New Tiger Lineup

The Tigers new lineup is very interesting. This is what it looks like:

Granderson, CF
Polanco, 2B
Guillen, DH
Ordonez, RF
Cabrera, 1B
Sheffield, LF
Renteria, SS
Rodriguez, C
Inge, 3B

It’s very interesting that Sheffield is playing left field. If you remember, at the beginning of the off-season last year, he had surgery to reconstruct his shoulder and the doctors said that it wouldn’t effect his hitting but it might effect his throwing. I’m starting to think that it messed up his hitting, but not his throwing. I just believe that he never recovered from his injury. ( For those of you who don’t know what injury I’m talking about, a few years ago Sheffield had an injury to his shoulder, then last year, he re-injured his shoulder by running into Polanco while playing right field.)

This is what I think the Tigers should do: they should put him on the 15 day disabled list, let him play a few games in the minors as rehab games, and if he can’t hit, he retires; if he can hit, we try him out again in the majors, and if he can’t hit there, he retires. Another idea is trading him, but I don’t think anybody will pick up his contract. Another reason why nobody will pick him up is he’s just not hitting well, period.

Throwing Out The First Pitch

Dsc_0917 WWJ Tiger "Kid Blogger" Christopher Gilbert throws out the first pitch at the Detroit Tigers April 6th game.  Christopher, who's a sixth grader in Northville, was chosen as a member of the Detroit Tigers Kids Club.

May Could Be A Good Month For The Tigers

At the beginning of April, Tigers' fans didn't have much to cheer about. their team was loosing games left and right. Immedietly the hopes of Tigers' fans for the Tigers to win their fifth World Series crashed. The Tigers just stumbled along without the guidance of Curtis Granderson at the top of their lineup. That just shows how important Granderson is to this team, because as soon as he returned to the team, they started to win games.

Just yesterday relief pitcher Jason Grilli was traded to the Rockies for minor leage pitcher Zackary Simons. The good thing about this trade is it gets rid of the most unconsistant relief pitcher opn the whole team, and it gets us another young prospect in Simons ( who was just drafted in 2006 ). Simons will be going to Single A Lakeland to make room for Francisco Cruceta who just came to America a few weeks ago because of visa problems.

Now that it's May, I'm sure the Tigers will do much better, because they have another dominant reliever in Cruceta, and their bats are starting to heat up.
